color of clouds

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.” ~Rabindranath Tagore, Stray Birds

How often do you think positive thoughts?

You become what you think most of the time. Every action has its origin in thought. To be happy, you have to think happy and positive thoughts as much as possible. Happiness has to exist in your imagination first before it becomes reality in your life.

It is not possible to have happy thoughts most of the time until you fill your heart with love and empty your mind of fear. Happiness cannot coexist with hate and fear. The following lines by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore describe such an empowering state:

"Where the mind is without fear and the head held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever-widening thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake."
--Rabindranath Tagore

You may not be able to transform the whole world into such a haven of freedom, but you can certainly make the territory within you awake into such a heaven by thinking happy and positive thoughts. That will make the Sun of happiness rise at your inner horizon. This is particularly true when dark clouds of gloom fill your inner sky.

Now take the first step towards happiness by asking yourself: "How often do I think happy and positive thoughts?"

  1. Simply amazing. We need to fill ourselves with lots of happiness to make others happy. Charity begins at home.

  2. There are external factors too which can make you happy. We all live in the same world and there is only one sun for everyone. The power high up there is also ONE. It is on us to choose whether to be happy or not in a given situation. Of course, the state of mind is important to make the choice.
    For a normal human being, how can the mind be completely free of fear? Is this practically possible? Fear is like friction in the tyres which take it forward, isn't it?
    A person with a heart full of love and a mind free of fear - is called what? a saint? a person who has realized the true self?
